yoga background
TaraMarie is a Vinyasa Hatha yoga teacher certified through OM Yoga, NYC and is a
registered yoga teacher (E-RYT) with Yoga Alliance and member of Yoga for NY.
Her study of yoga began in 1997 and stemmed from a lifelong fascination with body awareness and movement as a professional dancer. She has completed meditation training at Shambhala
Meditation Center of New York and advanced studies in Yoga Anatomy with Leslie
Kaminoff at The Breathing Project, NYC. TaraMarie
received an MFA in Dance from NYU Tisch School of the Arts where she
was also exposed to the bodywork and somatic studies of anatomy,
kinesiology, Pilates, Feldenkreis, and Laban/Bartenieff integrated throughout her
conservatory dance training. Her unique teaching style is greatly influenced by the dynamic flow of Vinyasa and Ashtanga, the precise alignment principles of Iyengar, and her natural sensitivity to movement with an understanding of the human body.
TaraMarie is on faculty at NYU Tisch Dance, Joffrey Ballet School, Dance New Amsterdam, and Namaste New York in New York City.

yoga for dancers
TaraMarie specializes in teaching movement and yoga to dancers. Through her ongoing research, she has developed her own Mind
Body Dancer™ curriculum, including a yoga series of
anatomically and energetically themed classes incorporating classical yoga into
a structure more sensitive to a dancer's technical needs, as well as designed
to help treat and prevent injury. This
curriculum has been recognized as an essential part of the professional dance
training programs at NYU Tisch School of the Arts, Joffrey Ballet School, Dance New Amsterdam and
American Dance Festival where she is on faculty. Most recently, she has taught master classes from this body of
work to the Vassar Repertory Dance Theatre and during the Paul Taylor Dance
Company Summer Intensive. In addition to her work with dancers, TaraMarie
teaches yoga to performing and visual artists using Mind Body Artist™,
and to athletes and professionals from many walks of life, tailoring yoga
programs to suit their specific needs, in group and private settings.
